For the best experience with college platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, and online coursework, students should use Google Chrome. This guide walks you through installing Chrome on a Mac.
Before you start: Make sure your Mac is powered on, connected to the internet, and running the latest macOS update.
Step 1: Open Safari
From your desktop or Dock, click Safari to open the web browser.
Step 2: Go to Chrome.com
In the address bar, type chrome.com and press Enter. This will take you to the Google Chrome official download page.
Step 3: Download Google Chrome
Select the Download Chrome button to begin downloading the installer.
Step 4: Open the Downloaded File
When the download finishes, double-click the file named googlechrome.dmg to begin the installation.
Step 5: Install Google Chrome
Drag the Google Chrome icon into the Applications folder.
You may be prompted to enter your Mac administrator password.
Step 6: Launch Google Chrome
Open Finder, select Applications, then double-click Google Chrome.
The first time you open Google Chrome, macOS may warn you that it was downloaded from the internet. This is normal. Click Open to continue.
Step 7: You're All Set
Google Chrome is now installed and ready to use on your Mac.
